Bio: Gus Albertoni

What brought you here to Sanctuary Aus?

I came to Sanctuary wanting to continue working in the non-for-profit sector and wanting to expand my skill set. I believe I could make a greater impact in peoples lives working as a Behaviour Support Specialist, being able to effectively work with the family and care teams to be able to deliver a more holistic approach.

What keeps you here at SA?

What do you like about your role?

I’ve always wanted to help people, the reason I set out to get a degree in psychology is because I always had the aspiration I’d end up working at an organization like Sanctuary Aus. I truly believe I can make a difference in someone’s life if I can continue to develop with Sanctuary Aus.

Your Previous Work

For the past two years I have been working in the mental health industry, primarily focused on working with adults who have complex needs. Before that I had spent a couple years working within the fitness industry where my primary focus was helping individuals achieve their desired goals.

Your previous study

I graduated from the University of Canberra in 2020 with a Bachelor’s in Science in Psychology with a major in Counselling. I have continued to develop my counselling skills since graduating as it was an essential skill in my previous workplaces.

The team is amazing to work with, I am learning so much from everyone working at Sanctuary. I also believe that continuing to work within an organization that exhibits such wholesome ideals that I believe will really help me grow as a person and therapist.
